The Minister for Inner-Cities and Zongo Development paid the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, a visit.
He was accompanied by the Nasara Coordinator, Abdul Aziz Haruna Futa.
This forms part of his plans to engage the leadership of the respective communities in finding solutions to the challenges facing Zongo communities.
Together with the National Chief Imam, Mustapha Hamid cut the sod for the construction of the “Sheikh Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu Sports Complex at Fadama”.
The minister thanked the Chief Imam for his continuous prayers and appealed to him for his continuous support as he pursues his agenda of helping develop Ghana’s Inner-cities and Zongo communities.
Prior to this, the Minister had paid a visit to the Chief of Madina, the Madina Zongo Chief and the heads of various ethnic groups. During this visit, he inspected a drainage system constructed by the Ministry at Madina Zongo and then went on to inspect the Artificial Football Pitch (AstroTurf) being constructed at Madina. He disclosed that the contractors have promised to complete the project in eight weeks.
The Minister continuously expresses his excitement about the opportunity granted him by the President.
In a comment, he disclosed; “Being a Muslim and an indigene of the Zongo community, I must say, that I am very proud and excited to be delegated to serve the people of Inner-Cities and Zongos.
To me, there is no better service than serving your own people. ‘Charity’ they say, ‘begins at home.’
“I see myself as an instrument for transforming this community in pursuit of the President’s vision of creating a society of opportunities” – he added.
