Zongo Students For Medical Studies In Cuba Departs Accra Next Month


The Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo led Government's fulfilment of its promise to the chiefs and people of the Zongo communities during the electioneering campaign to bridge the infrastructural and development deficit in the Zongos and other communities.

Next month the first batch of 40 students from Zongo, deprived and inner-city communities will to Cuba to study medicine.

As already announced by Vice President  Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the government would send more students from these beneficiary communities every year to study medicine in Cuba to develop the human resource base of the Zongos and other communities.

With these developments dear to the heart of  President Akufo-Addo, the government is undertaking water, educational and infrastructure projects with some at various stages of completion in these Zongo communities including the construction of Astroturf ( artificial football parks).

To this end, Mr Kingsley Agyemang, the Registrar of Ghana’s Scholarship secretariat was privileged to join the Cuban Ambassador to Ghana, Pedro Luis Despaigne González , to call on His Excellency Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia at his office in the Jubilee House to formally announce Cuban’s readiness to host these students.
