The Turkish Embassy in Accra through its humanitarian development agency, Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) has presented packaged assorted food items to the Ministry of Inner- City and Zongo Development for onward distribution to some Zongo communities in the Greater Accra Region as part of the celebrations to mark the end of Ramadan.
The assorted packaged food items were made up of sugar, cooking oil, rice, mackerel, tea bags, flour among others.
The group to do the presentation to the Ministry was led by the Turkish Ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency Madam Ozlem Ergun Ulueren,
Speaking at the event the Ambassador took the opportunity to commend the Ministry for the work it was doing to alleviate poverty in the Zongo and inner-city communities across the country.
The Minister for Inner -City and Zongo Development(MICZD); Dr Mustapha Abdul-Hamid upon receiving the items on behalf of the Ministry expressed his gratitude to the Embassy.
He further gave the assurance that the items will be distributed in accordance with the tenets of Islam, as part of the end of the Ramadan exercise.
